Job Centre

We went down to the Job Centre in Commercial road, we had difficulties filming as the security guards strictly told us we were not allowed 2 capture the publics faces and had to speak to the manager. As a group we decided to take a quick shot of Tayef walking out the building. We also took a few shots of him in the bus on the way back. They showed him just staring out the window as well as day dreaming to show he's thinking about something(someone). I also filmed cars on the road as the they started getting busy because of traffic.

Picture & Train scene

Few days later we had to take a picture of both Rujina(me) and Tayef which we are going to use as a prop. This brings back memories to Tayef's character as the picture is almost like a flashback. We got two jumpers from the school so show it was taken a few years ago, back in the days. We were outside the school as Naim tried to capture the school name in the picture.
As we didn't have a digital camera with us and thought the phone quality won't be god enough we filmed the scene which will be edited into a picture.

We then walked down to Lime house station to done our station scene of both characters meeting. Before we got there we had to complete a scene which which was filmed a few days ago showing Tayef at the cash machine. The cash machine was opposite the station so the location was perfect. We waited for people to pass by because in the first part of that scene, the roads were quite, clear and no one in the background. This was a disadvantage but we got it done. Moving on, when we got to the station we faced another problem. I was at the platform with the equipment as the other two went in to ask permission for the filming. We were strictly told we were not allowed to film inside, only on the platform. Then one of the ticket officers walked out and explained to us that if we walked down to some other station and talked to the manager explaining its for work purpose then we won't have any problems. However we can still carry on but because of all the incidents that took place previously (bombs), the police were informed that we were there incase any thing happened later, they will know who we are. I responded to the man, we understand what your saying but we have nothing to be afraid of so were just going to carry on.

We filmed several shots of Tayef walking owt the station, him walking around showing time pass, looking at his watch and calling up Rujina(me). We filmed him talking however we didn't film my part of the conversation so this might be a problem later. Some shots we taken more then once incase of any mistakes and Tayef smiling. Then we moved onto my shot showing the character of Rujina coming down the stares in the station. I look at my phone to check the time and then see tayef waiting. we both walk towards each other and ends with a hug. However were not very strong actors and it was very hard with the public watching. We didn't retake this scene, it made us feel very uncomfortable so hopefully it came out right. This took some time but we were happy with our work that day.

Yet again one of our group members did not turn up (Rujina). So we decided to make a to do list of all the things we need need to do i.e figured out the locations, gathered the props we are going to use and what location we are going to film at. We also typed up a rejection letter to use it as a written code for our filming.

The locations:
-Job centre
-Limehouse (Commercial Road)
-Tayefs Flat
-Train Station

The props:
-Costume (smart)

We have been planning on where we will do the filming and exactly how long it should take us to film the whole thing. We also decided the few extra bits that we want to add to the begining of the opening scene. The problems we can see is that our groups attendence; sometimes our group members are absent so we have planning difficulties. Next lesson we are planning to finish off our story board as we have decided to add extra bits to the begining of the opening scene.]

Slumdog Millionaire (Station Scene)

In this scene Jamal sees Latika and could see the villians coming to kidnap her but he can't do anything as he is really far away. This is a generic convention because in Romantic movies there are normally an obstruction between the two getting together or one person going to rescue the other person. This is also shown by the way the two characters are seperated by people walking through making a wider distance between them. It is a technical code and could suggest there is going to be a struggle for the two characters to reunite. Another technical code is seen just as Jamal spots the villians and with out a second thought he screams, warning Latika. We notice how Latika without hesitation jus run's. We immediately sence something negative, which suggests there is a connection between them.

Preliminery Excercise

In the making of this exercise I participated in the story board along with the other group members however, my main role was the editing.

The first problem our group faced was getting every member to come in and be part of this exercise. To solve this we sat down and agreed to attend all lessons.
During the editing we had two shots, one after the other but it was missing something to bring them together. We used a clip that wasnt needed, made it shorter and added it in. It took a while to figure out but got there in the end.

To avoid this same problem in our main task we will be filming a range of the same shots which lets us decide which is better and alows us to merge various clips/ parts of a clip. It also alows us to use repetition and if anything messes up, we have a backup.
